FAQs

Got a little question about a stay at Guardswell, or an Event being held here.

COVID + Guardswell Farm

  • Are you currently welcoming accommodation bookings?

Yes! We cant wait to have our huts and houses full again. We have made a few changes to how we do things. Guardswell is the perfect "isolated" location- and each hut or house is spaced away from one another.

  • What are Guardswell doing to make our stay safe?

All of our staff have undertaken external Covid regulation cleaning courses- as well as Guardswell being "Good to Go". Housekeeping is taking a little longer than usual- so check in times have been moved to 3.30pm.

  • Do we need to provide track and trace details?

We are required to keep a list of all names and contact details of all individuals who stay on site. We will contact you individually before your stay for this information.

Please keep the number of households within your rented property to the amount dictated by current regulation.

  • Is it Self Check-In?

All check-ins at Guardswell will be “Self Check-In” to ensure your safety and our staffs safety. We will provide you with Hut or House specific advice closer to the time. We will still be able to drive bags up to the Infield for you- but ask that you set a collection time for your arrival and departure in advance.

  • Can we go everywhere on the Farm when we stay with you?

We ask that you use the hand sanitiser provided in huts/houses- or your own- when walking around the Farm. Please sanitise your hands before touching gates/styles/fences/physical elements of the farm- to ensure the safety of those who work on the farm.

The Glasshouse and The Boat will only be accessible on the provision that the surfaces are wiped with the provided sanitiser after use- and that hand sanitiser is used upon entry and exit.

The Cosy Room will only be accessible to Kailyard, Pendicle and Infield guests to use the fridge- this will be cleaned daily.

VISITING GUARDSWELL FARM

  • Is Guardswell Farm open to the public daily?

At the moment we are only open to those attending events, workshops, accommodation or for pre-arranged meetings. We are very sorry but we do not have a coffee shop on site, and all venue show arounds must be booked in advance.

  • Is there parking at the farm?

Yes- we have space for approximately 50 cars. The car park is sloped and is gravel. We have 3 accessible parking spaces with a path leading to the front door.

  • How do we find Guardswell Farm?

Guardswell is based smack bang in between Abernyte and Kinnaird, on the south facing side of the hill. If coming from Perth, take the Inchmichael Flyover, aim for Kinnaird (Inchture) but do not go into the village of Kinnaird itself, carry on up the hill towards Abernyte and you'll find us just up the hill. If coming from Dundee, aim for Abernyte and take the road signed "Kinnaird", take that road for a couple of miles, and you'll find us on your right hand side.

  • Can we get to Guardswell by Public Transport?

Sadly no buses or trains take you straight to Guardswell Farm. The closest train stations are Perth and Dundee, approximately 25 minutes away, and between £25-£30 in a taxi. If you intend to cycle to attend an event or to stay with us, please let us know prior to booking as we can provide you with a carbon-efficient booking discount code.

  • Do you have Wifi?

We do not have any public wifi in the buildings at Guardswell Farm. We are a digital free zone and encourage our visitors to disengage with technology and take a moment to appreciate the slower things in life.

STAYING AT GUARDSWELL

  • How do I book a stay in a hut or house?

All bookings are taken through our website. Please head to the “STAY” page, choose the hut or house you would like to stay in, choose your dates and then follow the instructions. Payment is taken by card and you can pay a deposit of 30% to secure the date, and then the balance 1 month before.

  • Can you accept payment by any other means than card?

Please get in touch with us directly as BACS transfer may be possible depending on booking type.

  • Are pets allowed to stay in Huts + Houses at Guardswell Farm?

Yes- we absolutely allow pets (please discuss if not a cat or dog)- please get in touch if you wish to bring more than one. As we are a working farm we ask that they are kept on leads at all times. We also ask that animals are kept off furniture and stay downstairs in the Farmhouse- we hope this is understandable.

  • Is it possible to change the date of our booking?

This may be possible if done more than 4 weeks in advance of the booking. Please get in touch with us directly. This may incur a slight admin fee.

  • What time can we Check-In and when should we Check-Out?

Check- In time is from 3pm until 8pm, Check-Out at 12noon. Please discuss any later than 8pm arrivals. Late Check-Out may be an option if no follow on bookings. Bags can be kept in the office if you wish to arrive earlier, or pick them up later.

  • Do you provide sheets and towels?

Yes- all beds come fully made up with 100% linen bedding, as well as some cosy blankets in each hut/house. One bath towel will be provided per person.

  • Are high chairs and travel cots available?

Yes, we do have highchairs and travel cots at Guardswell, however, these are used at your own risk- and you are required to bring your own linen/bedding for use in the travel cots.

  • Do you have a restaurant on site? Can we buy food?

We don’t currently have a café or restaurant- however, we occasionally host one off dinners and brunches (have a look at “events” on the website). All huts and houses are self-catering and have facilities for cooking. We occasionally have vegetables and eggs that can be purchased during your stay.
